Refined Genetics

Pure Black Wagyu traces its genetic lineage back to Japan. Pure Black Wagyu has access to select wagyu genetics through a close relationship with Robbins Island Wagyu, a purebred wagyu program that over time has refined for traits such as fine marbling, soft fat, and lower melting point. Those genetics mix with European breeds to create a minimum F1 wagyu product. This careful crossbreeding results in exquisitely balanced beef-forward flavor with wagyu-style tenderness, juiciness, and marbling.

Barley Finishing

Pure Black Wagyu are raised in a renowned livestock region of southern Australia known for lush pastures, rich soil and drenching rainfall. Barley finishing augments months of free-range pasture grazing, enhancing the beef’s rich complexity. The consistent, high-quality, customized ration contains a minimum of 70% barley, a high-protein, easily digestible grain that improves nutrient absorption, and supports efficient growth and marbling development. Barley contributes a subtle sweetness that rounds out the natural umami of the meat, creating depth and complexity for a superbly balanced eating experience.

Barley Finishing

Pure Black Wagyu ranks among the most intensely marbled beef available in Australia, where the AUS-MEAT system grades the amount of intramuscular fat by assigning marbling (MB) scores on a scale of 0 to 9+.
