The family owned and operated company has achieved complete vertical integration in that time, from breeding and hatching to growing and milling proprietary feed formulas to processing and packaging in their own USDA-inspected plants. They are credited with developing an innovative six-inch flexible feeding tube for fattening the ducks, designed to be significantly more humane.
Raised cage free and certified organic, La Belle Farm ducks eat a high-quality, antibiotic-free, vegetarian diet of soy and corn locally grown by La Belle. Feeding is individualized. Ducks are hand-fed and a human checks their "feed sac" before each meal. If they find evidence that food is still being digested, feedings are skipped or reduced to ease stress on the duck’s system.
Finally, La Belle Farm foie gras is blast frozen so that its cellular structure remains fully intact. This not only ensures excellent texture and consistent quality but also results in less rendered fat loss during cooking. Why pay more and get less?
